Memorial Day fishing

Went out to Erving state park to do some fishing with the boy.  Saturday was spotty rain, but when we finally got camp set and finished our hike - started to really downpour.

Made due - broke out the s'mores fixins, and got to making smiles.

Sunday the sun came out in the morning.  So we fished - unsuccessfully. But we did catch some salamanders and a baby turtle.

Horny, very horny

After my near miss a few weeks back, when the lil chippie in dads Audi with a cell phone to her ear nearly ran me off the road, I figured I needed to be heard better.

Bought me a pair of the Hella super tone horns.

First off, now that these are installed, they are loud - not for the squeamish.

I needed to pick a location.  I have seen some mount underneath, but I chose to mount behind the lower grille.  I used the reinforcement bars as a sturdy and safe mount point.  A rubber coated clamp around that bar will keep it from moving, and just to be sure I drilled and tapped a hole through the clamp and the bar.  I was afraid that a moving horn could swing around and wear a hole through the radiator.

The horns themselves are about an inch thick, so a slight bending of the supplied mount arms was necessary to get the correct angle.  I mention this, because it is a fine line between angling, rubbing against the mount arm, against the rear of the grille, and having room for vibration between horn and radiator.

Once horns were installed, the harness was simple right up to the supplied relay.

Et voila!

Thingamajigger season is here

Little day trip to Rhode Island's Colt State Park.

Think I am hearing the beginnings of a transaxle whine.
